Mum, Dad- Here I am!
IN UTERO 3D is a project of creating a bas-relief of an unborn child (3D baby print). We create such a masterpiece in 3D technology on a base of 3D ultrasound examination.
We only need a file with a 3D ultrasound examination (the best is 18th -30rd week) saved in Cartesian Volume Files (*.vol) from General Electric Voluson or DICOM (*.dcm) format from Aloka instruments to make a very similar picture of baby`s face, lambs or even trunk in 1:1 scale.
To create the image of our “3D printed babies” we have developed our own crucial software to make a conversion of ultrasound examination from GE Voluson and Aloka instruments.
We do not manipulate ultrasound images, we do not idealize baby’s face, we only port it to another data storage device – ecru non-toxic bioplastic material. The bas-relief is a true three dimensional representation of baby and enviroment in the mother’s womb. We maintain all proportions, spatial relations and actual dimensions of unborn child.
Creating this bas-relief is a lasting many hours and complex process done by man and machine: 2-3 hours of model preparation and 4-7 hours of 3D printer`s work.
The steps of creation:
3D ultrasound examination
The doctor conducts the 3D ultrasound examination (18th – 30rd week of pregnancy), than saves it in Cartesian Volume Files (*.vol) format in case of GE Voluson or DICOM (*.dcm) format in case of Aloka instrument. You send us these files to our secure server.
* Ask your doctor for saving the examination on CD in *.vol lub *.dcm format.
The 3D printout of the fetus
We convert the 3D ultrasound. We get a faithful three- dimensional model of the Baby` s face in 1:1 scale. We print a bas-relief using ecru non-toxic bio-plastic material (PLA).
Your baby`s bas- relief
You can touch your Baby a few months before the birth, you can introduce Him or Her to the family.
WAITING WITHOUT BARRIERS
This is a project for blind mothers to whom the 3D technology gives a unique chance to see the unborn baby. Every blind pregnant mother from Poland, who would perform 3D ultrasound and send us the examination file, will receive this bas-relief of her baby for symbolic price. In 2016 for blind mothers outside Poland we perform the conversion and send a 3d model file, which then might be printed out in the country of mother’s origin using popular printing services like www.3dhubs.com.
